How to Enable Tipping

Turn on tipping for a location in Cloud and set up tip percentages, custom tip amounts, the No Tip button, and the tip screen message.

๐Ÿ“‹ Overview

๐Ÿ“„

This guide explains how to turn on tipping for a location and choose which tip options customers see on the kiosk.

Tipping lets customers add a tip to their order at the kiosk. All tipping options are set per location in Cloud under Settings > Kiosk > Checkout Extensions.

  • Users with Client or Manager access can turn tipping on and change tip options.
  • Changes are not saved until you click Save Changes and confirm.

๐Ÿ’ก How Tips Are Calculated

  • Tips are added to the total after taxes.
  • Percentage tips are based on the subtotal after discounts.
  • A full refund also refunds the tip. During a partial refund, the tip can be refunded separately, like an item.
  • Once a customer selects a tip, the kiosk shows it on its own Tip line in the cart, adds it to the Total, and changes the tip button to Update Tip so they can change it.

The tip shows on its own line and is included in the Total.

Tips on payment screen depends on your payment provider. If you use Shift4, Aurus or Windcave, contact support before turning it on so your payment setup can be checked.

Step 4. Choose Tip Buttons and Message

  1. Show "No Tip" button: lets customers skip the tip. We recommend leaving this on.
  1. Show custom tip button: lets customers type in their own tip amount.
  1. Tips custom message: optional text shown at the top of the tip screen on the kiosk (up to 140 characters), for example "Tips go to the whole team!"

  1. Click Add tip level to add another button. You can have up to 4 tip levels.
